Foods to tonify YIN:
Millet, Barley, Wheat, Wheat germ, Rice, Quinoa, Amaranth, Seaweeds, Micro-Algae (Chlorella & Spirulina), Tofu, Black Beans, Kidney Beans, Mulberry, Potatoes, Yams, Water Chestnut, Black Sesame seeds, Goat milk, Yoghurt, Cheese, Kefir, Eggs, Clam, Crab, Abalone, Oyster, Mung- Beans and their Sprouts, Beets, String Beans, Persimmon, Watermelon, Grapes, Bananas, Asian Pear, Blueberry, Blackberry, Sardine, Salmon, Eel, Herring, Trout, Cod, Duck, Beef, Pork, Soups, Stews, Congees, prepare foods in watery medium.
Avoid: Coffee, Tobacco, Lamb, Cloves, Hot Spices, Cinnamon, Ginger, and Alcohol
Foods to tonify YANG:
Black beans, Walnuts, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Lamb, Black Sesame Seeds, Sesame oil, Millet, Chicken, Soybeans, Lentils, Toasted pine and walnuts, Cauliflower, Red or Black Grapes, Ginger, Wild Rice, Raspberries, Trout, Onions, Salmon, Mulberries
Avoid: cooling foods and fruits, raw foods, iced drinks, excessive salt. Use seaweeds in soups.
Black foods especially nourish the kidneys!
